Hello ladies and gentleman Angel here with another movie review for you!!! Today i'm talking about "Celeste and Jesse forever" Now i know what you're thinking " What the fuck is Celeste and Jesse forever?" Now this is a valid question considering there was clothes to no marketing done for this film but, this is a prime example that you do not need huge stars and a bloated budget to make a great indie comedy film. Now the film follows Rashida Jones and Andy Samberg who play the title characters. Off the bat i want to say that this is one of the most real on screen couple I have seen. I really hate when the lead love interests don't make sense. C'mon does anyone believe that Carey mulligan could get Ryan Gosling too fall in love with her... it's supposed to be the other way around isn't it. Now we see the chemistry between the two actors play out during the course of the film which sheds light on a great script. I have to give Rashida credit before this i thought she was just a background star but she really shines on screen and so does the script she wrote along with cast member Will McCormack. As for Andy Samberg he is forgiven for the abortion that was " That's my boy" Though he is less goofy as usual he creates a very genuine character that you just want to root for no matter what. Now we find out very early in the movie that forever doesn't really mean forever as this couple is split up. I thought that was a genius approach to this film. They totally turn you on your head and move the love story almost backwards. What of course happens next is they decide to date other people because they are pushed by their best friends who are played by Ari Graynor and Eric Christian Olsen who are also very solid as the sidekicks in the film. Now i am going to get in a bit deep here with the story. You find out that a girl Andy Samberg once hooked up with is pregnant and he is moving on. Now this sends another great message which is that with a relationship like theirs there is no real "moving on." This struggle to progress leaves the character with deep sorrowful emotions which bring the movie from goofy to sad really fast and well. Also The supporting cast deserves more praise. Elijah wood plays Rashida jones' gay friend (what a stretch), Emma Roberts plays a stuck up pop star and Will McCormack plays a stoner....that's it he is just a stoner but man does he play it well. All of these actors really seem to be the back bone of the film which allows the leads to perfect their roles. This movie switches paces perfectly and never loses it's indie yet sophisticated feel. Just beware though Samberg and Jones do jerk off vegetables in the film. It is weird but very fun to try. I recommend you do two things. The first is watch this film with a person you are in a relationship or a person you want to be in a relationship with. It really shows that you should cherish the person that makes you smile. The second is run to your grocery and get some celery and blue cheese cuz you're gonna want to jerk that celery off after watching the film. In all seriousness it is great for couples i know because i saw it with my girlfriend and does raise your appreciation. Also the lead characters reminded us of us. Yes we are fucked up people. The one gripe i have about the film is there is a point where it feels like they forget all about Samberg and just focus on Jones. I felt that could have been balanced better. A hilarious script, Great supporting acting and perfect directing approach make this the best indie comedy i have seen in years. I give Celeste and jesse forever a 8.5/10. Come back on wenseday as we will have a show review of " Breaking Bad" Season 1. Thanks and bye!
